Fridays I believe are one of the best days to do a workout. I always want to finish the week on a strong note. I woke up and got a lot of foundation and school work done. Once my junior pt (Tanner) arrived to my room we headed to the track to do a walk. I felt great as soon as I stood up. I told Tanner “we are setting another personal best for the summer”. I got situated in my lime green Rifton walker. I have a mesh chest protector on the walker that wraps around my upper body that prevents me from completely falling over but outside of that I do not have anything supporting me off the ground. For the first 50m it was a little rocky, not as near as smooth as the day before which really frustrated me. Tanner informed me at the 50m marker that I was about 40 seconds off pace from yesterday. My first 50m are usually pretty good then the last 50m I need to dig deep. Determined to finish on record time, I kicked in another gear and was able to finish in record time, 1 minute faster than yesterday. Yup I was wiped, but wow did it feel great!
Then right after that, I did standing arm bike which was quite difficult. My fatigue kicked in and added tone to my body which resulted in my right arm locking up completely extended. Doing arm bike with one arm completely straight and unable to bend is quite difficult. It really rocked my balance. I had to call it quits before I face planted with my $28,000 bike. The day was then filled with some more school work. I had to work ahead in order to go to a wheelchair sports camp in Minnesota for four days.
Lesson learned: everyone has untapped potential, it is figuring out how to tap into it on a consistent basis that can be the tricky part.
For me, I need to set personal goals to compete with myself that allows me to really push to limits which I think are unattainable.
