Put yourself outside of your comfort zone, take risks, and do things that are difficult and challenging. That is where you will grow and make progress. If you do that you will realize you can do way more than what you think is possible.
I decided to change up my workout routine and to focus on different aspects of my walking. I started off by removing support in my back, which made it harder to balance. I then started removing assistance from my waist. I am not going to lie I would get really frustrated. I was used to walking over 100m and with the changes I could barley make it to 20m. I was working different muscles that I wasn’t use to working. I would get discouraged easily and at times I wanted to go back to my old routine. However, I stuck with it and at the end 3 weeks I was able to make greater progress because of it. I now can walk in a walker without the assistance of a PT! My best accomplishment yet!
Whether it’s at work, school, personal life, athletics…. whatever it is try putting yourself outside of your comfort zone, take a chance and you will be amazed at the results that you get. Fear keeps us in our comfort zone. It’s an easy spot to be. Fear of failure, disappointment, rejection, social judgment. Learn to embrace the discomfort of a challenge. Learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Force yourself to try something new.
